SUGGESTED READING.

Overlord. By Max Hastings. For me the most balanced read that covers the invasion and the Normandy battle culminating in the destruction of the German Army at Falaise.

Beyond the Beachhead and Omaha Beach by Joseph Balkoski. Both fantastic books which tie together the men’s stories with accurate information.

The Screaming Eagles in Normandy. Written by Marc Bando the unofficial historian to the 101st Airborne Division this is a book with great photos and is full of personnel stories.
 

The Bedford Boys, written by Alex Kershaw, chronicles the men of Bedford, Virginia who lost their lives on Dog Green in the first minutes of D-Day.

D-Day Hero by Mike Morgan is a great book about the only Victoria Cross to be awarded on the 6th of June.

Currahee. Written by Donald Burgett. Don Fought in the 506th throughout operations in the ETO. His memory of the events is graphic with amazing detail. A must have book.

The Liberation of Pointe du Hoc by Joanna McDonald. This is probably the most balanced book about the assault by the 2nd Battalion the Rangers at Pointe du Hoc.

The Day the Devil's Dropped. This is an excellent book and one of my personnel favorites. Dozens of personnel accounts of the men from the 9th British Parachute Battalion.

Juno Beach and Holding Juno are very readable, historically accurate and contain some new

Juno Beach and Holding Juno by Marc Zhulke are both great. Covering the Invasion and the bitter week that followed. A must have for any Canadian History Lover.
